Seta Mae Haight, 69 of Digby passed away in the Digby General Hospital on December 30, 2017. Born in the family home in South Range, she was the daughter of Lennie (McCullough) and the late Earle Marshall.
There are so many things to say about Mum that I hardly know where to start. She was a lovely woman who taught me manners and how to dress. She loved to bake and clean when she was younger and in better health, and she showed me how to do pies, cakes, and preserves, and in which seasons to do which household duties. Neither she, nor I understood why the lessons on the latter didn’t “take”. She was one of the tidiest housekeepers I have ever known, and her natural ability for organization had no equal. This made her an excellent office administrator and insurance agent with Harry L. Burnie; where she worked for many years. She loved that job, and I truly believe her career was one of the bright spots in her life while in that season where the kids are teenagers (and a pain in the neck), and there are bills and health concerns to contend with.
Seta loved crafting and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was proficient at everything she put her hand to; quilting, knitting, crochet, sewing and ceramics; to name a few. She loved children, and she and Dad (Rodney) looked after 21 foster kids over many years. She loved to decorate, or re-arrange rooms. She drove us crazy moving sofas, changing paint and paper, curtains and such. Of course, these are now precious memories.
Seta knew the Lord, and read her Bible faithfully, journaling through most of it. I was impressed a few years ago when I realized Mum had worked her way through a volume of commentaries over about a year and a half. I don’t think she realized what a Bible scholar she truly was. I am fully confident that my Mother is now with Jesus, and that we will all see her again if we have placed our faith in Christ.
Seta is survived by her loving husband Rodney Eugene Haight; children Velma (Marcel) Journeay and Dwayne (Pam) Haight; mother Lennie Marshall; brother Willis (Maxine) Marshall; sisters Ruth Romard and Nora (Elvis) Amero; brother-in-law John Pulsifer; grandchildren Nikolas; Kayla (Louis); Kila (Aaron); Shelby (Joel); Alannah; Ivy; Marcel Rodney; great grandchildren Isabella; Niveah; Liam and Lucas.
She was predeased by her father; sister Thelma Pulsifer and brother-in-law Roland Romard.
A Celebration of Seta’s Life will be held on January 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the South Range Christian Church. Memorial donations may be made to the South Range Christian Church or the Bloomfield Methodist Church.
