Thelma Frances Irving, 92 died peacefully on December 3, 2017 in the Wolfville Nursing Home where she had resided fo rhte past several years. Born in Glenmont, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Janet (Pineo) Butler.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years James “Jim” Irving of Wolfville; their sons James (Rosemary) of New Westminster, BC; Joel (Bonnie) of Mahone Bay; grandchildren Robbie and Madeline; great grandson Ronan; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her brother Wylie Butler and sister Cora MacLeod.
After teaching school for a few years, Thelma worked in Irving’s General Store in Sheffield Mills where she met Jim. A loving and supportive wife and mother, her family came first. She was a lifelong reader and writer and also enjoyed dancing, baking and picnics. She and Jim had been actively involved in Wolfville Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Wolfville Nursing Home for giving Thelma such fine care.
A Funeral Service will be held on December 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Wolfville Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Dr. Allison Trites with reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Wolfville Baptist Church or a Charity of One’s Choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
