Obituary of Roberta Sawler
Roberta June Sawler, 85, of Lakeville, Kings County, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Wineva (Craig) Foote.
Roberta was an active member of the Women's Institute for most of her adult life where she also served a term as President and was later honored with the WI lifetime membership. She was renowned for her bread-making, especially the dinner rolls that were a feature of many a church supper. She became an avid photographer, won an award for her work and had her photo of the Billtown Baptist church appear on a commemorative plate.
She is survived by her husband, Reginald (Reg); sons Eric (Georgina) and Kevin; daughters Carolyn (Jeff) and Janet; grandchildren Lyndsay, David, Kelsey, Mason and Katie; great grandson Keegan; two brothers, Hartley (Sylvia), and Gardner; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister Wineva Porter of Lakeville.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). A gathering in Roberta's memory will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Lakeville Community Hall. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
